In the latest boys' top 100, China has 12 players, France has 9, and Chinese Taipei has 9. That is not a one-country table. It is a table with a Chinese peak and a European and East Asian chase pack right on its heels.
France's number is the structural one to watch. A federation that puts nine boys in the global top 100 is running a system, not relying on a single talent. The same is true for Chinese Taipei, whose boys' depth outpaces its men's footprint — a wave that has not yet aged up.
The boys' depth table: CHN 12, FRA 9, TPE 9, JPN 7, IND 6, KOR 3, HKG 3, SVK 3.
Caveat: count is not points. China's boys still likely hold more total ranking points than the count suggests, concentrated at the top. But count is the right measure of how many real prospects a country is running through the system, and on that measure France and Taiwan are real.
